Short scale, wide neck, cedar over walnut. Affordable Lowden S.

I never knew the Wee Lowden was sparked by him.

Also I love that he doesn't put this ridiculous stylizings on the guitar like many signature models are. This looks just like a Lowden S25 with a different name on the headstock.

I presume mostly machine made (all in Ireland) to Lowden design specs.

I'm pretty enthused and can't wait to get my hands on one.

The S25 is the best I've ever played but I would never splurge that much on myself. Now a cheaper variant of that could be very interesting to me.

5-piece construction.

At first I thought, ok, like a D-35 with extra wings. Lets them use up smaller pieces of wood that are otherwise going to go to waste. But...

The pictures show nicely bookmatched backs. So I am pretty certain 5-piece is code for 5-layer plywood. Especially since they go out of their way to say "solid top wood selection"

Still, if they could get the price of the S1 below a Taylor 114 it ought to make a decent stage or entry level guitar. Shame you can't get the bevel on the Cedar/"walnut".

Do you feel that way because you just generally don’t think a laminate box is good enough or you think that $700-1000 for a laminate is too much? (Or both?)
