For my money, the Ibanez PM12E is the best for $200 that I've spent. Also, Martin's D-18 is the best guitar I've ever bought for $2000.

Every guitar I bought new since 19 (I'm almost 47 now) was worth the money with the exception of a Fender American Standard Stratocaster. That thing was a pile of junk. It turned me off of Fender for years.

The Harmony Sovereign I bought used in the sixties for $25. Second would be the Yamaha FG-180 I bought used in about 1970 for $75.

my Martin 000-18. amazing tone, wonderful to play, much prefer the smaller body size. when I play out, I'm plugged in so the Fishman Ellipse pickup I put in it makes for very organic, easy to dial in "mic'd" plugged in tone.

Probably my Tacoma DM9. Paid $509 for it back in 2000. It's been a good friend. Loud enough to stand out when playing in groups, rich sounding, clear as a bell.

For me it is my Martin 000-15M. I bought it used for $600, but it was in immaculate shape. The neck profile and nut width make it feel super comfortable. It is heavenly for acoustic blues and rag. Not loud, but very sweet and clean sounding.

The guitar is a joy to play and listen to. It is an all-around winner. I call it Little Brown Jug.

While I've had several good sounding guitars that were inexpensive the best tone for least $$ for me has been a Martin D-18GE.

If we're talking bang for the buck, it would have to be the Guild D-25 I bought new in 1973 for $240. It was my only guitar for 30-some years, so at less than $8 per annum, I certainly got my money's worth out of that one.

I've been fortunate to have acquired several excellent guitars - inlcuding a couple of Gibsons - at super prices. However, my best "bang for the buck" entry is my most recent:

A Recording King ROS-10, 12 fret, solid-wood OM -- in mint condition -- for $100.

It plays easily and sounds great -- and has become my most-played/go-to guitar over the last month.

The only downside -- I quickly discovered that 12 fret-OM hardshell cases typically cost more than RK OM guitar did.

I bought a very clean 000 16 from the early 90s for $900 when new was $1200. Sold to a friend who still has it, it's as good as and 000 Martin I've ever played.

Two of my Eastmans qualify. My E20OM I bought for $625 about 10 years ago and my AC-822 for $800 about 9 years ago. It's a bit of an understatement to say I've gotten my money's worth.

No brainer, the gibson 62 SJ I bought in 1971 for $165, a bit more than $3/year. Of course that does not include having all kinds of work done through the last 50 years to keep it happy.
