Default Carvin Portable 2000-watt Line Array

... and now, Carvin enters the portable column-array (line-array) fray. Also, other column-array systems available.

Not that long ago there were news of them going under, was there something that changed that they're even having a new product line now?

This sort of spinoff company (the guitar line IIRC being the main one in the new age) has been making pedals and stuff for awhile. A quick look at those links suggests most/all are aimed more at larger venues than most of what is talked about here. Not just the size and wattage and all that, but note at a time when brands familiar to us are finally adding built-in mixers to arrays, the new Carvin line looks like overgrown Bose L1 M2s. Makes perfect sense for house systems, for example.

Which is all well and good but I'd rather they brought back the AG300!

The AG300 is an amp, I too, wish I had bought.

With an 18” subwoofer, no onboard mixer, and $2,249.00 price tag, this Carvin beast seems like it’s in a different category from the solo artist-friendly column units offered by Bose, Fishman, JBL, Electro-Voice, Turbosound, etc.

I’m guessing it’s a Chinese made system that’s available with other brand names on it for less. That seems to be their thing these days.

Yep.

I wouldn't trust Carvin ever again.

While my AG100D and my R1000 bass rig have been pretty good, I have a friend who has had a lot of problems with later Carvin built p.a. gear, and then they shut down. Zero support. No in house service.

What's the old saying?
