Default D’DarrioNT Review

Picked a set of these in Light PB form to put on my Taylor 110.

Let’s just say, these are not my cup of tea. Coming from Elixirs they sound dull and quite rough on the fingers. The sounded alright until I trimmed the extra off the headstock. I had more bass and punchiness with the Elixirs.

You mean XT? I am not really a fan of them myself, they seemed to go dull fast. I prefer exp or ej 80/20 still.

Certainly nothing unusual about not liking a particular brand, but must say this (above) sounds really strange...can't imagine trimming off excess string material from the tuning pegs having any detectable affect on tone...?

You like the exp over the xt? I've yet to try them but as a longtime exp user I eventually will. What did you note as the differences ?

I do prefer the exp over the xt so far. But I have only tried it on one guitar. I like the new string sound and the xts seem to mellow much quicker.

I've been a long time elixir user that occasionally tries other strings (including D'addario EXP) here and there and always land back on elixirs. I currently have 3/4 of my guitars strung with XT strings (some 80/20 some phosphor bronze) and I absolutely love them. I can't wait till the strings wear down on my other guitar to put them on that as well. Compared to elixir they're louder and punchier and I love the way they feel. Can't speak for the longevity yet. These will be my string of choice from now on unless they don't last long.
