Default SOLD - Gibson J-45 Koa Elite Adirondack Top, Hide Glue

SOLD

Selling my beautiful 2014 Gibson Custom Shop Koa J-45 Elite. Research shows Limited Run of 65 of these Elite models with the Adi top, hide glue, and figured Koa B&S.

Condition is excellent with only light pick guard swirls. No dents, cracks, repairs, or any negative issues to report. It is gorgeous looking and plays like a dream. I would put the tone closer to mahogany than rosewood. Lows are plentiful but a little snappier and the highs are present yet nice and smooth. It is pretty loud and keeps up well in a group, amped or not. The factory VT LR Baggs sounds amazing as you would expect.

There are a number of excellent demos on YouTube for the KOA J-45's but most of them are not the "Elite" version with the Adi tops and hide glue. As you would expect, this one sounds more dynamic and rich, even though the ones you will hear are still fantastic IMHO. The "Elite" model has the historic script logo as a way to tell.

The burst top is incredible in person. I could not capture the 3-D look of it. They call it "Montana Sunset" and if that is true, I'm moving there!
  • Electronics: LR Baggs Element VTC pickup
  • Tuning Machines: Gold Grover open back
  • Pickguard: Traditional tortoise teardrop
  • Scale: 24 3/4 inches
  • Fingerboard: 12 inch radius rosewood with mother-of-pearl dot inlay
  • Nut width: 1.725 inch
  • Neck-to-body: Compound dovetail w/ HIDE GLUE construction
  • Neck: 1-piece mahogany
  • Finish: Montana Sunsetburst, nitrocellulose lacquer
  • Binding: Multi-ply top, single-ply back, multi-ply single-ring rosette
  • Wood: Adirondack red spruce top, koa back & sides

Actually owned this same model.
2014 limited elite Koa.

They went for new for $3800 at ZZOUNds at the time.

Best sounding acoustic I ever owned. Super pretty. It was the dream guitar.

I lost my mind one day and traded it for a used Gibson LG2 American Eagle and $1000 cash at a local music shop when GAS hit me. I since sold the LG2 and spent the cash given me. Took a major $$$$ beating on the whole affair and have nothing to show for it now. Learned a big lesson though, on stupidity, and not being content with what you have, even when you have the best there is.

Thanks for the good words. Now you have me thinking about this if it will be one of those regrets that haunt me down the road.
