Default NGD- '77 Yairi DY57

I got this for an almost literal song on CL from a gentleman on Omaha that found it dried to a husk and beat up. De-scented it from the old chipboard case, replaced a tuner with an original 'target' Grover using parts from another one, shined her up, re-humidified her up, and leveled the frets a bit. The headstock is inlaid on this one, but not much else. It has a cute little pattern on the rosette and back strip that I love. I have some new strap buttons coming for it, though. Some enclosed screw inlaid Celtic knots.

Isn't she a beaut? The sustain on this is amazing. Currently have PB's on there (elixer's I think he told me)

Congrats!
Yairis are such well made instruments. That beauty will give you many more years of service with little fuss required. Enjoy it!

Score!!! Yairi's are, which has been stated on here many times, extremely underappreciated and undervalued. Nice find!!

Beautiful guitar. I used to have a DY-51. Yairis are wonderful!

Cool I have a DY-57 but it doesn't look as clean as that one. Good job

considering the condition, and what he did to it to fix it, and then the receipts he included for its trip to the local small music shop to visit their guitar guy (for the tuner rebuild and to re-affix the original pick guard and heel cap) I thought 600.00 was a pretty good price, including a fitted case.

Considering over the past 6-8 years or so used Yairi prices have been trickling up in you did well.

Yairi's are always a good bet to own. They don't sound like a Martin, Gibson or Taylor. People try to compare
them to the big 3 and you really can't.

They really have their own sound and it's either you like them or you don't.

Yes, those if you can find them 60's, also 70's Yairis are really nice little guitars.
They definitely had the lamination process down pat. I think they are the best value on the market. I especially like the Sada Yairi guitars. Less common, but I think better.

I've still got the 1977 DY 57S that I bought new. Other guitars have come and gone, but I've never considered parting with that one, although it's mostly retired these days except for recording. Congrats.
