Default “Hold you in my arms”

I recorded this little snippet on a new to me 2001 Santa Cruz OM/PW. I am still trying to nail down the whole recording thing so its not great and the chorus got a little harsh because of the distance to the mic.

Dig it. Ray is the man. The SC OM sounds good. Nice playing and vocals.

Love this tune. I've gotten to play it at a couple wedding services. It's just a great one. Sounds pretty good to me. Visually, seems like the mic is kinda high and away from you, but I imagine you tinkered to get it to balance your vox with the the guitar. If not, that might be the first thing I'd try. Could just be the low angle of the camera. Now you gotta do the other verses and make a version of the whole thing!

You’re right, I need to tinker more with the mic position for sure. Im still learning so hopefully they will get better as I play around with it.

I'm no expert, but it might be fun to do that same song with the mic being maybe a foot out front of the guitar and maybe somewhere in between your soundhole and your face is probably a pretty sweet spot height-wise. I'd think you'd get a little more dynamics from both vox and the guitar. It'd be fun to play with it a bit and see what turned out best.

It sounded great, regardless.

My brother has a recording studio, so I dont even pretend to know what I'm doing. I just accept that it's always crude and has room for improvement. Heck, 99% of what I record is my iphone sitting on the desk lol.

I think your suggested mic position is much better. Here is a snippet of “Whiskey and You”. I messed up one transition but it’ll do. 😁

Given your setting, the next thing is to take that rig outside into those trees and get some ambient nature sounds in the background ;-) .

I really enjoyed this, and it has inspired me to tackle this song as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
