Default Retro slope dread

About 20 years ago, give or take I started this koa bodied slope dread and for some reason never finished it. Priorities I suppose, it was a spec guitar and orders got in the way. It’s been calling to me. So the body is finished. No bevels, pre sound port, just a simple guitar design with really fine wood.

The neck is also koa and the peghead design is similar to my brother’s. That’s been awhile too.

It’s for sale if anyone is interested, otherwise I think it will be ready for the artisan show.

Whoa there…that’s stunning! I don’t remember this one. Obi-Wan was wise to hide this from me.

Yes. It was long ago. Back when really fine koa could still be had. Back when, contrary to what Paul said, koa of this quality did grow on. Trees.

It's funny how perceptions of wood have changed over the years.
I've had this set for at least 25 years and only recently have I appreciated how nice it is. I think koa might have been generally better a quarter century ago

Beautiful guitar
