As someone else has suggested, this probably hits those of us still working more than it does the many pensioners here on the forum. This morning I got up at what seemed the middle of the night and drove to work in the pitch dark.

Actually, here in Miami when the heat is on, the sun is more of an oppressor than a joy, and having its searing effects extended further into the evening is not welcome for me. But then again, I am something of a vampire - I like dark, cool climates more than warm, sunny ones. In fact, the 'sun' and 'sunlight' metaphor in songs and poetry to represent something new and positive has never quite worked for me!

Amazingly, my coffee maker flashing 12:00 is still right, twice, every single day! I have no idea how it knows that DST has started...

Looks like it may be a permanent thing if this passes - Daylight Saving Time ends

Btw, it is Daylight Saving Time, not Savings

Now science matters. Who knew?

I managed plants that ran 24/7 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Time change for record keeping and computer monitoring plus paying people for an hour they didn't work all turns into business-as-usual after the procedures were agreed on and put in place.

And I still don't care.

I just find the whole thing annoying. Yeah, I'm retired so it doesn't matter all that much but I'm still annoyed.

Like most things however, no matter what is done, it will bother someone.

Keep switching? Gonna continue to upset people.

Keep it on DST? Gonna upset some people.

Keep it on Standard? Gonna upset some people.

Best,
PJ

I’ve been doing it my whole life and it only effects me for a couple of hours on the first morning.

I am just not a fan of Daylight Savings Time. I love the early morning light and hate losing an hour of it!

Change is hard for a lot of people. Any change, even an hour change. I have a good friend from Phoenix and he will tell me every week through the summer how much DST screws up his life and how they don't do DST in Arizona. I've begged him to either move back there or shut up about it, but he does neither. I'm having coffee with him tomorrow.

He lived in Phoenix until he was eighteen years old and then moved to Iowa to go to college. That's fifty years of DST and he still has trouble coping with it. Some people are like that.

I look forward to springing forward every year! I love more light at the end of the day. And I dread going back to standard time every fall and darkness before 5 pm! Hate it! Winter days would be too short for my liking if we kept DST year round. I’m happy to lose an hour of sleep once a year.
