I've really enjoyed this forum. It's informative, entertaining, and mannerly.
I am seeing two kinds of people here. There appears to be a bunch of old pukes who not afraid of something new, and a gaggle of young folks who are the future. We are at a revolutionary point in luthery. I love it. I went through more than 40 nylon string wooden guitars looking for my ideal, and I ended up in the what I see as the future--composite guitars that match any sound you want, instruments that are light-weight, not bothered by changes in temperature or humidity, and that play like dreams, made by people who really care. Thank you all. We are so lucky!

How dare you ! I'm an old fart and I like wood! I agree with you that this is a fascinating forum, with lots of interesting (and differing) views.

"Old Fogies From Bygone Years"
is a term used to describe a few jamming buddies and I. Maybe it's a term that can be used here too ?  I agree with EvanB on carbon fiber acoustics. When the prices start coming down a little more, I plan to get one, even if I am considered an "Old Fogy From Bygone Years"

I'm not sure that carbon fiber prices will come down by very much. The CA Cargo went up by about $500 last year, to finally get to a break-even price point. CF is an expensive material and the process is labor intensive and requires specialized molds, vacuum presses, temperature controlled curing, etc. It is much more likely that wood guitar prices will rise to match CF as premier tone woods get scarcer and more expensive over the coming years.
Personally, I have probably bought my last wood guitar already -- I have some great ones. Anything new will be CF. I'm just tired of the constant humidification battle, especially with multiple instruments. Don't get me wrong - I'm a big fan of wood (especially koa). But CF guitars get better each year as the builders refine the designs and the build process. "Old guy" or "old fart" here.

For those who have been around the block, a time or two.... We have had practice at more than guitar.
For this female..... sassy, smart, no longer subjective to popular opinion. ie: fine vintage. Capable of bending a rule or making new ones.
