Workbench as I left it

For anyone interested.....Cello with broken headstock, Dbl Bass (floor) with split back, Cello with broken bridge, Cello with loose pegs, Cello (floor) new fingerboard

Purfling cutter and my universal scraper with a top I made that split out during its build process a while back. ohh and the funky thing in the background is a Bassoon

Photo in use (demonstrated for camera purpose only), bearings are all interchangeable, I can reference either from an upper surface or a side surface.

The tool behind the scraper in post # 18 is what I always thought of as a gramil. It would have a pair of knives with a spacer to mark the plate where the purfling groove goes. Then you have to remove the material. I've always used a small chisel to do that, but the guided scraper would do it as well. I would not want to use only the scraper, as I can't see how it would make a clean cut across the grain. Maybe it works better for you than I could imagine it would.
