Default tonal qualities

Chuck,
great guitar, great builder.

Can I ask you how you described your tonal and playing preference to come up with a Lutz/Cuban Hog combo?

Karl,
I provided Brock with quite a bit of information about my expectations/desires (tonal, responsiveness, playability, musical styles, etc) at the start of the project; too much to put in this response. If you'd like, I'd be happy to forward that info to you in an e-mail.

I will also admit that I did express my desire for the guitar to use Cuban Mahogany / Lutz when we started discussions. But I gave him the list of expectations/desires to make sure this wood combo (in combination with all the other design elements of his guitars) could achieve the desired results.

Chuck

I'm not even a grain snob but I must admit that is one remarkable piece of spruce.

Default Nice!

Beautiful Guitar. I can't wait to see it finished. I have to say I think one of the greatest thing about build threads is reading the post by our highly esteemed builders on the forum. Its awesome to know that we have a community of builders who respect and appreciate each others work. For a guy like myself who hopes to take the custom plunge later this year, this kind of courtesy and appreciation of craftsmanship goes along way.

Chuck, That's one great looking piece of mahogany. Brock chose a great piece of Lutz spruce for my top and I notice you're going with a sound port as well. I gotta tell you, if yours turns out like mine, it gets better every time I play it. The bottom end is really filling out and the sustain goes on forever. I know you're getting excited. Brock is fantastic to work with. Keep us posted.

Brock sent me the neck last week so I could see how it felt. It was great to be able to check it out before it went to finish.

It's getting close (and the wait's probably more torturous). Gorgeous figure on the headstock, and I like how it's more subtle for the fretboard. What are the woods on both?

The headstock laminate is Brazilian RW, and the fretboard is Madagascar RW. The bridge and bindings will also be Brazilian.
