My new Martin Family Photo
Recent threads have inspired me to get the gang together for a group shot. They're usually spread out in two locations and I usually take one or two back and forth with me.
You can see that I like Martin guitars and even though they all sound and feel different to me, I realize that to a casual listener they probably all sound the same to them. So, from the front to rear; J-40; this was the first ''stimulus guitar''. My wife combined our first two sitmulus checks to get it for my 70th birthday. When I'm playing the others, I think they are just as good, but it really is the best in the family. Custom Shop 000012-18; this is the newest. Before Thanksgiving week, my wife asked me why I wasn't looking for a new guitar. I got a smokin deal, 46% off of Build Sheet price from Willcutt. It's amazing how much ''wall of sound'' comes out of a relatively small guitar. Custom Shop J-17 with a Mojotone PU; this guitar is a Rock Star. With or without the Mojotone it's the guitar I want for something like ''Great Balls of Fire''. It's the only one ever made and it might be the last ''inexpensive'' Custom Shop guitar since they stopped doing customs below the Standard Series right after I got it. GP28e; I also wanted one of these when I got the J-40. It's very close but with a little less scoop in the sound. If I was playing it for you and you couldn't see the neck and headstock, you really couldn't tell it from the J-40. They usually stay in separate houses. GPCRSG with a JJB PU; this Road Series is now five years old. Although the others are better guitars, I still play this one just as often. My wife and I went to see Toby Walker and as we were leaving, she said ''You should get a guitar like his, I'll buy it''. I didn't think I should get something like his Huss & Dalton, so I just looked for that shape in a Martin. I took out the Sonotone and put in a JJB. This guitar works for anything I want to do. So that's it. My plate is full. My family is complete. And with that, I think I'll take out the 000012-18 and play for a while. Last edited by lowrider; 06-27-2022 at 06:39 AM. |

Excuse my dumbness but after the J-40 at front which way does your description go?
To make it easier for me, what's the sequence left to right. They look great and that's a nice group shot.

The sequence is left to right, but I guess that’s upside-down in Australia!
