Asked my girlfriend today about my guitars
So I never told her how they sound and just played them today for the first time to her, all fingerstyle and I asked her opinion about my guitars. She said:
The 710 is loudest, clear, and brightest. It Sounds like someone is having a good lifetime The 810 is a bit different from the 710 and less of everything. It’s balanced and sounds like I’m trying to get some girls with it The 812C is not loud. Sound darker than the other taylors. It feels like someone is having an unrequited love. A bit sorrow in the sound. Then here is the D18, she said it’s boomy, it sounds so sad and sounds like it is crying. The sound comes out very sorrow. Full of sadness. She likes something cute, lovely, and not sad so she voted 710>810>812c>d18 For fingerstyle I would say 710>812c=810>d18 For strumming or bluegrass d18>710>810>812c For loudness 710>d18>810>812c |

Sounds like the 710 is - or should be - your grab-&-go guitar...

Possibly your performance changed from guitar to guitar.

I like her observations. Don't let her be the one that got away.

Sounds like you have a wonderful girlfriend! Lucky you.
A lady who can actually tell the difference and be descriptive about it. Not too many of those around. |

Sounds to me like she's hinting you need another guitar. Maybe another one with some happy in it.

Couldn't help but notice that your guitars are all up for sale -- except for the one she thought didn't sound sad.

I'm reducing to 1 guitar. I like the guitar so I just wanted her to see if I'm right. Clearly it is for me. very proud of how it sounds.

I think I like your girlfriend even though I am not a Taylor person. If I buy your D 18 would you be willing to throw in your girlfriend for 6 hours as a package deal? I would play some happy songs just to set the record straight. I find her opinions unique and interesting. Glad you found your ax!

I've been married a long time and prefer soft sad songs, so, I would pick the D18.

Sounds to me like you should dig in and write some songs with that woman! She has a "poet's lilt" in describing the sounds of those guitars...

If the d-18 is the one you have for sale...of course it is sad....it has a couple of cracks and you are trying to get it adopted. Poor guitar...
