Default And the anticipation begins

Well, I won the e-bay auction for the WS3000 this morning.

Older model with a Baggs Element instead of a Fishman, but I can deal with that if necessary. Should be here in 4-5 days.

Would have happily bought a new one from Ted if Rainsong was willing to make one.

Tell me about it. I'd give a fair bit of dosh to buy, say, a CO-WS3005NSM...

My ideal would be just about that. Unidirectional top, and I generally like offset soundholes. I'd want a clear-coat instead of the opaque burst though.

A little tease...

For some reason, all those strings with no truss rod cover, makes me spooky.

but, that head-stock looks like precision and quality.

So...it's a 12-string Rainsong? That should be sweet!

Congratulations.

I could certainly live with that - then it would perfectly match my six-string, and I've always wanted a matched set.

I know what you mean. Now most of my guitars adjust from the soundhole, so I'm used to the clean look of no truss-rod cover. But Rainsong 12's don't have an adjustable truss rod at all, which is making me slightly nervous.

Showed up today, in great shape. Initial thoughts:

Neck relief is a bit more than I would normally dial in, but no adjustments on this model.

Will most likely lower the action by fitting a shorter saddle. Might try one of the black Tusq saddles.

Chimey cannon is correct. Also lots of sustain. And a bit more sustain. Maybe some more...

It's currently strung with 80/20 EXPs. I'll change those out to either PB EXPs or my normal Silk and Steels that I use on 12's.

Case is pretty beah. Not halfway as nice as the one that came with the Shorty. Roto-molded TKL (Rainsong molded in) with aluminum valance. Basically a Rainsong version of a Martin Standard Series case.

Seller was really cool and threw in a bunch of case candy including a Shubb Capo and all the original Rainsong goodies (picks, polish cloth...)

Better photos tomorrow with daylight.
