Default Gray-Acoustics - New Builds thread

We have two new guitars approaching the finish line, both have been given a first seller coat of shellac and are ready to start the French polishing schedule. Hopefully i'll have time to start these next week.

First up:

14 fret, Rozier model grand auditorium.
25.34" scale length
Cocobolo back and sides
Sitka spruce top.
Mini Arm bevel
Side sound port
Elevated fingerboard.

Default Gray-Acoustics, New builds

Second on the go:

14Fret Gray-Acoustics, Rozier model grand auditorium.
Madagascar Rosewood back and sides.
European spruce top.
25.34" scale length.
Mini arm bevel.
Side sound port.
Elevated fingerboard.
French polished shellac finish.
Will be fitted with an LR Baggs element system saddle pickup.

These are some great sets of wood, I find the depth of tone in the rosewood really contrasts with the light European spruce top.

Great looking guitars Steve, very elegant. And the ones on your website look good too!

What's the meaning or story behind "Rozier"?

So, the “rozier” model name came from a place we were living in the south of France, a small very picturesque village called Le Rozier, located in the gorgé du tarn. It’s where this current design was finalised, and given the picturesque beauty of the Tarn I thought it only apt to keep the name in the guitar model.

It's such a stunning place, my workshop had a window overlooking the village opposite. Definitely an inspiring place to design instruments. We had to move due to covid but the name is kept on in the guitars. If you are ever down that way its well worth a visit. The whole are is beautiful!

They are looking fantastic! Great job Steve!
It looks like you are taking some ideas from classical guitar making?

Thank you, and definitely. I'm always looking for new ideas / concepts to aid in the advancement of the guitar design. The idea is to not change the design of the wheel, just to help it roll a bit smoother.
