My wife doesn’t really pay any attention to my guitars, acoustic or electric. I think she feels like they’re all the same because they all generate songs she doesn’t want to hear! Ha ha.

I've had a number of calls asking: "Which case has the one I like?", ... which is not a simple question.
Would this make life easier?

I'm a fisherman that has that very nightmare! One of these days my small tackle shop quantity of gear will be sold for pennies on the dollar. Not that I'll know or care then!

I'm the person in this house who plays guitar, I own several great instruments, and why on earth should I care if my HUSBAND knows what they are or not?
Would you say there's a wee bit of sexism going on here?

Wow, the things folks get offended about nowadays. Sheesh.

I'm hoping I read your tone and intent wrong.

For the most part, this discussion has been polite. Lack of communication between spouses and the ‘hiding’ of expensive, or excessive purchases is a fact of life that will not be settled here. Plus, it’s been a running joke for many years.

So, let’s keep the discussion lighthearted and polite.

Thanks in advance.

While I don't want to upset anyone or stop the conversation, I do believe that it's a mistake to assume all guitar players are men.

You are absolutely correct and there are many female members of the AGF. The title of the thread has been changed to make it more inclusive.

As I have said my significant other may not know all my guitars, but she is 100% invested in my hobby and has embraced my love for guitars.

In fact, it was a woman that taught me C, F, G, G7, D, D7, Em, Am and Dm and sent me on my guitar journey when I was 16

My S.O. definitely knows them, and plays them, and when an interest in electrics developed, I purchased a PRS Custom 24 for Christmas and hid it all over the house till I presented it on Christmas morning. Now my S.O. is into playing electric pianos, and has expressed an interest in the Yamaha Modx8, thus I will probably need to reuse those hiding spots again!

Does your significant other know your guitars?

Yes, she was involved in the purchase of every one of them, including the electric guitars.

I'd been building up my guitar collection while I was a gigging weekend warrior.

I'd save a portion of my weekend earnings, and when I had enough, I'd find a guitar and purchase it.

I've had a much bigger collection in the past, but I'm at about 50+ or so right now.

She knows about how many guitars I have and is fine with it.

They're in my home studio and don't clutter up the house.

I can buy as many guitars, and spend as much as I want on them, as long as the money comes from my guitar collection.

I've been doing this for years now,and it's worked out great.

It also helps that my son is an amazing guitar player and loves guitars as well.

My wife appreciates that my son share this hobby and spend time together going out of town to check out guitar shops.

Good job Tom, but right under the title of the thread is the title of the video: "Does My Wife Know My Guitars?"

It is not within my abilities to edit the title of the video, but in my defense, if you watch it to the end, they mention husbands as well if the wife is the player....I think we all get the point now, I hope.
