Yeah, and I only had to buy it once, plus they will outlive me. The 8" SCT is made by Celestron and is a decent all around scope. The 5" APO is quite special, made by Astro-Physics, and provides simply stunning views.

For me it's not astrophotography, but rather cosmology and astrophysics. The accelerating expansion was sure a surprise! I've done a TON of reading on the latest findings. It used to be all I'd read. BUT.... I've slacked off lately.

A 5" Astro-Physics is a fabulous scope. I used to have a 20" f 4.5, but it became just too much for my aging body. I went down to my home made 12.5" F5 (I ground the mirror myself), but even that became too much. I am now down to a 11" f4.5, a 6" Mak and a 80mm DayStar H-Alpha scope.
