Funny how Lewis was lamenting his "horrible" qualifying run, and then 'manage" to do what he did today.

If not for Mercedes, these races would actually be fun and interesting.

I did like how the team (Mercedes) honored Deiter during the podium ceremonies.
Yes, it's really about the race among "the rest."

Red Bull's move to Honda is looking smart, so far.

I feel that Monaco is an anachronism in F1. There is very little opportunity for passing, and those that can qualify fastest - well, all they need to do is not crash, and do fast tyre stops.

I'll watch it of course, and the Indy500 is being shown in full on Sky F1 today as well - from 4.30 to 9p.m???? Like that's gonna happen!

Watching Monaco qualifying it hit me more than once how much I miss Hobbes and Matchett.

Those guys on ESPN really make it hard to watch. Sorry, but that's my two cents.

I don't know who or what that it but the presenters on Sky are excellent, and Martin Brundle, ex F1 druver has a knack of spotting every trick and wrinkles so well.

They also have Scotsman Paul Di Resta, also ex F1 driver who does the post Quali and post race TV video analysis very well.

Niki Rosberg tried and failed pretty badly, but Johnny Herbert and Damon Hill are also very good.

I was sad to see the BBC lose the broadcasting rights to F1, but I have to say that SKY do an excellent job.

I'm enjoying the season - I grew up watching f1 and my dad was directly involved back in the Jack Brabham days., Daniel R is our home town hero.

Last year I started paying for TV after years of antennae and its been fun to reconnect with F1. Mercedes are a force of nature - their double pit stop a couple of races ago show just what an incredible juggernaut they really are. I respect Lewis - I think he can go fast in any car, but I hope Valterie gives him a run through the season.

Daniel and Renault are painful to watch as is Ferrari with their strategy errors. Not getting Leclerc out again in Q1 was absurd.

My greatest wish is that they do away with front wing technology. I love how F1 tech trickles down into road cars - paddle shifting, hybrid tech and hopefully more of the regenerative energy tech - its amazing.

But the front wing tech, at millions and millions of dollars, will never trickle down to road cars and keeps the leader leading. In the old days, the leader was always at risk of a good draft over take, not any more. Now the leader can pull away 5, 10, 30 seconds ahead of the second driver. I'd love to see some form of limit to aero tech to even up things a bit.

Meanwhile, midfield racing is a lot of fun and its great to see the smaller teams scrapping for 4-12 spots.

F1 Monaco is over - sad for Mad Max but good race.
Now watching the pre race razamatazz for Indy 500, What I really don't get is why is there so much militarism in this ?

What has that got to do with motor racing?

Monaco is an iconic race filled with nostalgia and romance and is always one to look forward to.

However, there has to be something wrong when your engineer tells you not to pass lapped traffic. Effectively, Lewis's engineer (Bono) was telling him to drive slower than the slowest car on the track in order to win the race.

That's not my understanding of 'racing'.

Still love it though.

Mad Max II, right? The first (that I recall) was Max Papis, I think, unless there was an even earlier one I am not familiar with.

I loved Lewis' comment that this was the hardest race he'd ever done (this time'round ) Starting on pole and leading the whole race can hardly be called his hardest, methinks.

Yea, Monaco should be dumped as an F1 circuit. It's boring as hell and has been for 20 years. I get it, it's fun to drive, but it's boring to watch.

Hi PP, before the race started I would have agreed with you but I was very involved in this one.
Whilst I admire Hamilton and his team, I soooo wanted Max to get past him.

The track is somewhat ridiculous but it is home to many of the drivers, and owners.
It is the f1 track I'd least like to drive on, and I suspect it is the most tiring for the drivers.

I’ll bet it was challenge of trying to win a race by driving slowly (to save tires).
