Poor Max indeed. That last lap that got him penalised beat his pole time and the lap record. It seems ironic that he lost pole by going fastest.

As for the botched pit stops - call me cynical but didn't Ferrari's second stop for Leclerc make it too much of an ask to catch and pass Vettel? Perhaps not a deliberate one this time but they do seem to be good at making decisions to ensure Vettel finishes in front of Leclerc whenever possible this year.

Actually, now the pressure for the championship is off it was good to see Seb looking a lot happier at the end of the race.

I'm never completely sure how Hamilton wins. Success seems to be based tire management and pit strategy, two things that would be opaque to the casual viewer. How could anyone attend one of these races in person and have any idea what's going on?

There are big screens at the circuit with plenty of live information.

I used to go to the British Grand Prix as I had a picking partner who lived in the village so we could walk there and back, but I rarely really understood what was going on.

Frankly the Sky Sports F1 coverage on TV provides a far better experience, and is a little cheaper!

I'm curious how much Hamilton uses the team radio to sandbag or if he is as upset as he sounds. He is frequently distrusting the team strategy only for it to work out time and again.

Or could it simply be that he wins again and again because he is simply the most gifted driver of this generation and is in the most skilled team? I don't recall the source, Motorsport Magazine, or maybe my Dad, but I heard somewhere that Hamilton can drive fast in any car, regardless of setup and whereas other drivers need a particular setup for them to work at their best.

Hey now, I'm from Perth and Danny Ric is the home town hero. I'd LOVE to see what he could do in a Merc or Ferrari.

I don’t recall which event, but some races back Hamilton won after fending off one of the Ferraris for lap after lap.
When he pulled the car into the winner’s circle, you could see that the tires looked like they’d been in a war..... Yet he somehow kept pace.....

I believe that was Monte Carlo, a track where it's nearly impossible to pass anyone. The strategy was to get ahead and stay ahead at any cost. It got quite a bit of discussion here, because some people felt it wasn't really racing.
