It's for a kid. A 13 year old. It's running ios 13 and will work for several years. My wife gave her old 5c to one of the kid's friends who didn't have a phone. It still works just fine. It must be 6/7 years old.

If kids want the latest iPhone they can get a job !

Don’t dismiss kids’ resourcefulness so quickly. They could probably make some side money selling the old device and posting about it on social media!
