I like a good medium jumbo or grand auditorium size. My favorite brand is Maestro / Hozen, but you can find these sizes all over.

My personal favorite all-rounder would be my Martin GP-28E. I once had a Larrivee L-03R that was also a terrific all-rounder.

I agree with those who have suggested that a J45 would be an excellent all arounder, however a slightly less expensive but similar option would be a J15. I love mine and it is very versatile.

Recording King RO-T16. Seems to be pretty versatile except for maybe heavy strumming. Similar specs to a 000-18GE with the torrefied Adirondack.

I have two, a spruce/mahogany '76 Guild D-35 and a '93 Guild spruce/rosewood D-50 cherry burst. Both are loud and soulful and have great action. Which one I take depends on the occasion.

The D-35 (Slick) is the beater, great for kicking out the jams — a Tele trapped in an acoustic body. It sports a K&K pickup, drop-D bender, and custom bridge pin set.

The D-50 (Red Molly) is fat and swanky and covers the sonic waterfront — a Gibson semi-hollow reincarnated as a flattop. It also has a K&K for when plugging in can't be avoided.

Now you know!

First choice is my 2011 M-36, followed by my 2016 GPC-35E.

An all-round acoustic guitar for widely differing pro gigs.

Most Ds are too boomy for many sound and recording applications. Rosewood has a bit more sustain than mahogany, and that tends to be accentuated in amplified systems.

My choice is OM-18 with Adirondak top (plus K & K pickup with preamp).

I have to say the Martin D-28. I've had the same one since 1971. For about 20 years it was my only guitar. Playing it is like going through a musical review of my life, and brings back many pleasant memories.

It has 'opened up' pretty well through the decades.

Sounds like a million bucks, before taxes!

I'd say it's an OM-21 personally - but you could go 000-28 if you prefer the slightly shorter scale (I prefer the much more subtle looks of the 21). If mahogany is more your thing then a 000-18...

There are so many right answers. For me, my all rounder is a 000-42. Enjoy your search!

best all arounder for me is my OM28V, although the Hummingbird is a very close second.

Although I don't currently own one, the Larrivee L-03R is probably the closest thing I've ever found to a "Swiss Army" flattop - that said, given the choice I'd go with a lightly-constructed 18" archtop (still on my bucket list) as an ideal combination of balanced tone and unplugged projection...

That would be my Leviora Custom CF guitar, OM deep body size with Fan fret. I can play it without care about the weather.
