Default So lovely,

the rosette looks like a renaissance necklace. The mirrored bottom of the fingerboard only ads to that esthetic. It is beautiful by the truest definition of the word.

Hey Trevor, no that's Sycamore, only not what you guys call Sycamore.
You'd call it Plane.
See you soon!

Default Headstock Parade--Contest!

Here are the headstocks for five of the guitars we're showing.

First person to correctly identify the guitar to which each head belongs wins a free Kinnaird Guitars tee shirt!

(Employees of Kinnaird Guitars, and/or members of their families as well as foreign and domestic affiliates are ineligible to participate. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.)

Good luck!

How far is it from Kilgore to Nacogdoches? Writing from Abilene and meandering east on 20. Of course we may be taken out before we get that far. . .

What?!? No employees can play! This is bogus. I might have to quit to win this shirt. I know some luthier at Memphis could use a hand...anybody?

By the way Bruce, our shop is about 60 miles south of Kilgore. A lot closer than Petaluma, but not just a mile or two down the road.

I'm not 100% sure but here's my guess.

F1:

Koa guitar with fancy rosette:

My favourite headstock -- which I presume goes with the tiger myrtle back that was last introduced:

White oak parlor:

Quilted maple:

Mau, will need some clarification before we pronounce.
Which F-1? We have two pictured.
As for the "Tiger Myrtle" you referenced...none pictured.
A bit more double-checking and you might have it....

OK Steve... Tough challenge but I will confidently say that the F1 is the one on the right in the following photo:

And sorry for guessing the wood wrong -- but I figured the elephant inlay goes on this one:

For the first one, an F1, I actually think it is the one on the left in the full frontal view...The second is the curly Koa with the paua rosette, the third is the sycamore, the fourth is Grandad's parlor ad the last one I think is the either a trick question and we have not seen it yet, or it is the curly maple.... Default We Have A Winner!

I'll have to make this contest more difficult in future!
I was being picayunish over the minor details, but Mau rose (or sunk) to the challenge. And though he mislabeled the wood in his first stab, he was thinking of the correct instrument.
AND, he guessed the correct F-1! What a guy!
Johnny, tell him what he has won:

A Kinnaird Guitars tee shirt! Mau, send me your address and size and we'll get this off to you. Better--come to Memphis and we'll hand deliver.

And Tom, nice try, but you're getting a shirt anyway.

Steve

Unlike Tom, I didn't just take a wild guess.

Even black ebony has figure, you know...
