Default Cornerstone Underway Redwood/EIR

Well, seeing Peter's tower of guitars made me break down and learn how to post some of my build's progress photos! He's been at it since July so my first post will span several steps!

The woods have been selected: Redwood over EIRosewood

Bendage with Brazilian Binding

Paua Shell and EIR Rosette... Definitely the most excitement for me so far. I wanted the double rosette but didn't want the rosette to grow too large... Peter worked it out beautifully!

Florentine underway

... box coming together

Well, now you are up to speed visually as much as I am. The wait isn't so bad, until you get a fresh email from Peter with new pics of your guitar taking shape... then you won't sleep for a few nights thinking about the next set of decisions that lie ahead!

Enjoy!

So, you're the one with the EIR back and sides! Looking great!

Wow, that's going to be a stunner - what a great wood combination!

Now that you've found out how to post pics, I look forward to following your build thread as it progresses

I agree...killer woods. Even the relatively "simple" Peter has a master's way with...

Enjoy the ride!

Default Update

Well, we're moving right along finishing up the box... I'd been struggling with an idea for a soundport since Peter began my guitar. I went through tons of possibilities and finally ended up with one I liked. This is the preliminary idea on the guitar for the first time.

Then Peter helped me see what I was missing. Instead of being a single opening, he made it two openings. I am extremely happy. It's understated yet has some great visual interest!

+1 on the very cool soundport- love the idea of 2 parts. BTW- that redwood has some amazingly tight & straight grain. May take a while for the top to really open up, but once it does I can only imagine how killer that puppy is going to sound! Congrats!

Talking New Pictures

It's been a while since I've had any new news on my SJ build to report... BUT, now I've got a little bit more ammo. I'm addicted to the build threads so I thought I'd bump mine up with some new pics to help all the other addicts out there

Here you can see the nice Brazilian endgraft

This next one is a bit interesting! Looks like one of the other guitars may have picked a fight with my SJ... complete with steri-strips to hold everything together, post confrontation... Peter seems to have patched things up though:

Seriously... The Brazilian bindings have found their places. After a bit of clean up the body should be ready for finish according to Peter. The redwood really shows red under finish (wet). I still don't have any pics of the neck to show off, but I'm hoping that it too is coming along. Maybe Peter will supply me with some fancy neck pics here soon!!

Hey Travis - congrats on what looks like a great build so far! I like the darker themed wood choices - this will look so classy when finished. What kinds of music do intend to play on this beauty?

Keep us updated!!

Thanks Ryan... I'm planning this to be my designated DADGAD guitar... with a mixture of fingerstyle and strumming. Although, I can't wait to see what it'll do best! I'm particularly anxious in anticipating the longer scale (25.7" I believe) and wider nut (1.8").

My palms are already sweating
