Great looking guitar Bobby, I'm glad you were able to hang onto this one. I look forward to some soundclips.

Thanks yeah I'm not too good with my cheap $150 kodak camera . Yeah its heavier than most of John's builds but still very light compared to most guitars.

BTW: The grain on your ABW looks very similar to my b/s set for my Gwaltney. It is actually good to hear that the guitar is lighter than you thought.

Enjoy

That is a beautiful guitar. I love the body shape. I've never played an African Blackwood guitar but would love to.

Enjoy your guitar. It looks fantastic.

Hey - I'm with Travis on this one. YouTube it, when you get some spare time (kids/wifey come first!).

I'm hoping too this week end or maybe thursday, this guitar continues to completely blow my mind, it is incredible!!!!!!!!! I've been playing it a lot and I need to pop some new strings on it soon here, maybe tomorrow. I have trouble focusing on song writing or practicing I'm just too floored by the tone and distracted.

Are they still the original strings Bobby? I think I changed them from my set-up strings to some d-addario, but I confess the guitar may actually have a $1.50 set of strings on it.....

I couldn't remember after I sent it out if I had swapped them or not yet.

The strings seemed fine what ever they are. I have just played it a lot in the last week.

I have 5 string options at home and I'm leaning towards the Martin SP's 12's. I also have D'Addario PB 12's, Elixir Nanoweb 12's, Mangan PB 12's and Six Shooters Strings PB 12's.

Martins will be my first choice.

Congrats Bobby. I'm glad that you're able to get (& keep) a new Mayes. What a nice guitar.

That's a beautiful guitar, Bobby. Even though he and I are in the same neck of the woods, I've never gotten a chance to try out one of John's guitars. Everything I've heard and seen, though, tells me that these are some of the best guitars out there. Congratulations!

BTW - I've never welcomed John back to OK. We're glad you're back home

I recorded this youtube video tonight. I apologize for my playing because I didn't have anything polished and ready and I'm not classical/fingerstyle guitar player but you can hear this amazing guitar!! I ended up just fiddling around a bit.
