Thanks for posting this. Two great artists. James Taylor and the Beatles are probably the reason that I have been playing the guitar for over 50 years. Carols song brings back so many memories. There is still good music like this out there. You just have to look a little harder, cause most of it is not on the radio. Anna Tivel and Melody Gardot are a couple of female artists I like. I believe James guitar is a Gibson J-50.

James still has that J-50 with the removed pickguard. I saw a recent video where he showed and talked about some of his guitars, and it was there among them.

I've always thought that J-50 is the JT sound. I prefer it to his Olsens. Such deep, dry thumpy tone. Maybe I'm just a Gibson guy.

Carole was the piano player in James band along with other players that evolved into The Section. Already an accomplished songwriter they had to push her out front to perform her own material.

Carole King and JT are both treasures and they were so young here! I also prefer the sound of his J-50 over his modern guitars.

I know there's a lot of talented young artists out there today, but I immediately felt like an old fogey when I watched that video and thought "they don't make 'em like that anymore".

I love James Taylor, but Carol is incredible here. Not sure he really added too much. Not really sure he could have. (Although nice playing and a great sounding Gibson.). She’s amazing talent.

See...I am the exact opposite. I never thought JT sounded as good with that old J-50. I don't even think that was a "good" sounding J-50 by old J-50 standards...too dry, dead, thumpy sounding to me.

I thought his sound improved 10 fold when he switched to the Olson guitar. It's tone, timbre, and dynamic voice matched perfectly to his style of playing and chord shapes and progressions...again...for me.
