Continuing on:

Cutting the outer channels to accept the purfling and maple rings.

The rosette pre-inlay.

Laying out all those pearl pieces.

Gluing can be ugly.

One classy rosette.

And the whole top for a overall composition.

Thanks for watching.

Congrats Jeff, I own too many guitars built by Steve and Ryan including the prototype OO built thanks to a push by Mr. Robert Tucker and demonstrated at Woodstock 2017. It is a perfect sized guitar and the sound is great. I know from experience you will love it!

Love that rosette fellas! Congrats all around!

Thought I would share a few shots of the rim construction.

Gluing the bent sides to the end blocks...of you can see through all the clamps.

Gluing the top linings in. These are made of basswood.

Putting the profile radius into the sides.

Then installing the bottom linings. These are primavera for a little better color match for the ebony.

And bolt holes must be drilled...

More coming soon.

that last picture is pretty interesting. keeps the hole nicely square to the block.
I want to see how you treat the neck.

Thanks John. I don’t think the neck shot will look as fancy in a picture. Basically I make sure the neck is clamped in a vise where the butt of the joint is vertically level. Then I take a drill with a bubble level on it to make sure I’m drilling a true perpendicular. It works decently. When I get to that point I’ll stage a shot for you.

I can't see much difference in the top and bottom linings. Is the primavera slightly lighter in color, the basswood slightly lighter in weight?

Sounds good Stan, that’s what we’ll tell Jeff. The Primavera does have a little gold in its color that doesn’t show up well in the pic. I had just enough for the bottom lining which is more visible.

Tah-ah-om!! (Three syllables for Tom, spoken like Laura Petrie used to say Ra-ah-ob! ....on the Dick van Dyck show!!)

What are you saying man? “I own too many guitars built by Ryan and Steve?!?!”

One day you will be put up for Surgeon General and this thread will be turned over on the very last day of your confirmation hearings! You simply cannot put in writing everything you think, bro!

Default I’m there for you!

No worries Tom, I’m there for you! You just call on me, and I’m happy to testify that you were just kidding.

Or better yet, even better proof…

Immediately: order up a new Kinnaird guitar as proof that you were just kidding!
