Default What's next on your CF guitar list???

Somebody started this thread on the General Acoustic Guitar forum so I thought I'd narrow it down to carbon fiber guitars. I'm a sucker for big-bodied guitars and despite my advancing years, I have no issues while playing them. I'm loving my newish Rainsong CO-JM3100NT, and I could see getting a Rainsong jumbo six-string as well....

I sure would like a McPherson Touring for traveling.

Probably an X7. There are so many great options but spec wise it would be a nice addition to my travel guitar. I know Emerald markets it as a travel guitar but the specs are actually much more generous than anything else in class.

I'm on a buying hiatus at the moment, but I'd be lying if I said I don't want an Amicus to play around with.

I just ordered an Amicus a week or so ago, as I reported here.

I think I’m done, at that point - although I do have to say the most recent Kestrel demo has me licking my lips.

Sounds good, but please... a guitar neck is not a tremolo handle! I would never let anyone in the habit of neck mangling touch one of my guitars.

Actually I am kind of surprised that it works at all on stiff material such as carbon fiber.

You got that right about the RainSong jumbos being comfortable to play -when I ordered one without playing that size (up until that point I had only tried the WS and OM sizes), I wasn’t too worried as I’m 6’4” and dreads are perfectly comfortable for me, but these jumbos with their pinched waist sit a touch lower in your lap. And I’ve made no secret about how much I love my 6 string Nashville jumbo - if a RainSong 6 string jumbo is your next CF purchase RP, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s like an OM on steroids, and for me is the most even playing guitar I’ve ever played.

My next CF purchase will be a woody X30 - yes the April discount eventually tempted me, and I’ll be able to answer (at least for my fingerstyle) the popular question of whether the veneers affect tone as this will be a true apples-to-apples comparison to my red carbon X30. The treble tone of the X30 equals that of the RainSong but to my ear the x30 has response characteristics closer to a wooden dread. The X30 bass to my ear has all the benefits and quirks of a nice HD-28.

I’ve requested wood resembling the following, and I ordered the gold tuners too, just like in the video - should look sweet

Oh wow - I don’t typically like the sound of arch tops for what I do, but that was amazing - Emeralds sure are addictive

I’ve got an X30 inbound. I’m done after that. I think. Maybe. If I get to play a new X20, I might be able to be convinced. After I sell my Sable and Black Ice WS. Then I’m done.

The struggle is real.

I ordered a X7 nylon in March. That should do it for awhile . . . maybe.

The only missing piece in my collection is a 12-string.

Now that Rainsong has started to offer them again, it's officially on "the list."

I'm thinking maybe a Raisong Jumbo or an Emerald X30, because my acoustics are all pretty small right now (Rainsong Shorty, Waterloo WL-12MH, Breedlove Organic Concert, Emerald X7) with the exception of an old Tak Jumbo 12er and a big, booming guitar would fill a niche that's empty right now. Of course, the Emerald Harp guitars or a Chimaera doubleneck would be pretty cool...

FWIW I couldn't be happier with my newish CO-JM3100NT. Don't feel limited by what you see on Rainsong's website - based on that I wouldn't have been able to spec together my new RS 12-strong. Work with a Rainsong dealer like Ted at LA Guitar Sales https://www.laguitarsales.com/index....g-guitars.html or Sean at Avenue Guitars https://www.avenueguitars.com/collec...insong-guitars to assist you in seeing what options are really possible as well as best pricing...
