In my opinion, a D-28 with Brazilian is preferable to a D-41 with EIR. I would check out prices for a 60s D-28 or D-35 before investing that kind of money in an 80s D41. Maple Street Guitars, for example, has a 1966 D-35 Brazilian for $5900.

Ha, that's exactly what I decided to do in the end. I bought a '68 Brazilian D-35 (are all the pre-1970 D-35's Brazilian rosewood??). Thank you, @madison.
