Default What about the six strings ?

I wish to share some thoughts hoping to read more interesting ideas from other members.

I used to see the six strings as two sets of three, say the basses E, A and D for the rhythm,
supporting the melody played on the highs, say G, B and E.

Or maybe as three duets : Basically, E and A for the basses (rhythm) , B and E
as highs for the melody and the D and G that can bring as a third voice in.

Those are not actually exclusives.

Any thought ?

Your 1st statement makes sense when starting out. After more experience & ability, the lines get blurred and then eliminated altogether.
