IR Ideas for Guitarist/multi instrumentalist
Greetings everyone. Been a LONG time reader of the AGF and finally joined last night, my first thread.
I’ve seen a good discussion of IR pedals. I play mainly acoustic but also mandolin and dobro and was curious which IR pedal would be able to handle a library of presets. I’d love to have a single source option instead of chasing the Jerry Douglas Aura in addition to something like the Tonedexter. Still haven’t decided on mando pickup yet, probably K&K for guitar and that. Also for fun here a link of the monster setups for Billy Strings Helix & internal Shure 98 WOW 🤣 https://www.instagram.com/p/CMj5-16M...dium=copy_link |

Hi Jason,
welcome to this forum ! I gig as a multi instrumentalist mostly using my Grace Felix preamp. But I can tell the ToneDexter is an amazing piece of gear for multi instrumental use on stage. I used it many times on guitar, mandolin, squareneck dobro, banjo, Weissenborn, Irish bouzouki. K&K pickups work fine, and the TD does wonders on it. On my F5 mandolin with a K&K pickup it sounds so incredible close to a miked mandolin that my bandmates asked where the mike would be hidden. Some time back I made a few clips with the TD on various instruments and pickups - here they are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gilfNHa4JWo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsCkcrPGCmU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwgDgrc4--Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXqzrV1VJn4
