Default Best Strumming pick for martin hd-28?

For all you hd-28 owners, what is your favorite pick for strumming? Which pick really brings out the best in the guitar?

Well, I don't have an HD-28, but I've owned many dreads. I'm primarily a rhythm strummer and after trying many picks, really love Dunlop Primetones. I also really like Dunlop Ultex, but find the primetones last longer. Give 'em a try!

I've settled on Dunlop Primetone 510PT .88 picks for strumming all of my acoustics including my HD-28.

D-35 for me and Primetone 1.3 picks are my choice.

Perhaps the Primetone picks are a good option.

Used to be a Dunlop .88 or 1.0 man but gradually got used to thicker picks. Now I prefer my CT55 bluechip for flatpicking and strumming. The best strumming pick is the one you feel most comfortable with. None of us can tell you that.

I like Primetones too. But I like them more for flatpicking.

For just strumming I prefer Clayton Ultems in 1.2mm. Though I can't say it's a really strong preference one way or the other.

But I do like the Clayton Ultems a bit more than the Dunlop Ultex (which are the direct competition), because the Claytons are just a tad bigger, and it works better with my fat fingers.

I have jumped off the Primetone wagon after I bought some 1.0 of the smooth finish. They are to me too smooth and they slip out of my hands or feel like they will at any moment. I may try some with a grip.

I think I prefer something like a Clayton rounded triangle for strumming. For lead work I like actually something a lot smaller as the small shape helps me concentrate on the pick attack.

This is pure theory for me as I don't own an HD-28 and likely never will have the money to acquire one.

As you can see, the short answer is your favorite thicker pick. Until I plunked down on a Blue Chip a couple years ago, my favorites had been the Dunlop 500 1.14 for decades. I still have about a dozen in my guitar case, but now just held in reserve.

Almost, the short answer is your favorite pick. I've evaluated every pick on the market, thin, thick, custom, expensive and cheap. My favorite (not the best but my favorite) is the tried and true Fender medium 346 in tortoise shell.

Any pick is a good option until you find your personal favorite.

Wegen 1.20 Bluegrass is my favorite followed closely by a BC TD50. I’m also of fan of Primetone 1.4 small triangles too.

D’Andrea medium-heavy .84mm Classic Celluloid. Good luck finding them in your friendly local music store, but Amazon carries them - that’s where I’ve bought my last couple of half grosses of them.
