Default This community

I've had quite a few hobbies and been on plenty of forums of one kind or another other the years....

...and I have to say that the AGF forum has the nicest community I've found so far anywhere on the internet. I'm not sure whether that's due to the fact that acoustic guitar players are a chilled out and more mature bunch than the internet average or whether the mods are just really on top of any bad behaviour or a bit of both, but this is just such a lovely place to be!

cheers guys

Hi, I have heard of other places where people get flamed and bullied etc.
never seen it here or elsewhere myself.

I HAVE seen some appalling comments on YouTube on some mainly history based videos. I assume they are crazed kids. Best not to react.

The moderators also do a good job of reminding us why we are here: our mutual love of acoustic guitars. So, the mod's help us avoid unrelated topics that might be contentious and they keep us in line with rule #1 "Be nice"

I agree. Jeremy & the Mods do stuff behind the curtain to keep AGF the great place that it is...

I believe the moderators deserve ALL the credit. There is no doubt in my mind.

Thank you great moderator people! You make our world a kinder gentler place

I haven't picked up a guitar on a regular basis in probably 8-9 years. I still visit here almost every day because I like the people here.

RalphH... we appreciate your thoughts and we're delighted you joined this great community. And to all, your kind words are appreciated.

Moderating is a funny thing... we catch a lot of flak and occasionally some praise. So, we thank you.

For me, this is such a wonderful community and it precedes any of my minor contributions. All you folks make this the community it is... not us.

Every once in a while, it's good to be reminded how lucky we are to have this forum.

I like how I can ask advice on a wide number of topics.
Always seem to get the answer I need.

Worth noting is that this forum has ALWAYS been the great place that is today. I stumbled upon it after I bought my first Taylor, a "Legends Of The Fall" 314KCE. As others have said, the consistency of the moderators have been vital to the civility and success of this forum.

Every once in awhile, we mods can take a bow and say, "I want to thank the members of the academy..."

But I will toot our horn - we do keep this a nice place (along with you guys and gals) on the internet and we are proud of it. There's way too much rancor in the world and I am glad that we don't contribute to it. To quote Max Yasgur:

Happy holidays and happy new year to you all!

I think the AGF is a good, congenial community because of both the moderators, who do a terrific job here, and because there are a large number of longtime members here who want to help others. Both aspects matter.

Only a small percentage of the AGF membership is active on an everyday basis, but a small percentage of over 100K members is still a lot of people taking part. As has been noted, most of the time a person can ask for help on some subject and within just a few hours many members will be pitching in to provide advice or information on their experience.

I wish I had discovered the AGF before I did back in 2008. I have learned so much here.

The mods save us from ourselves. They do a great job. And the overwhelmingly helpful members are an asset.

Ralph - thanks the thread. You are correct, this is an excellent place. For many of us it's more than just a forum.
