Love and support
It's great to have a loving and supportive wife.
Yesterday I played and sung her a song she'd asked me to learn for her (Let Her Go by Passenger). +"Wow, you've improved at singing!" -"Really?? " +"Yeah, you used to be bad. Now you're a bit less bad" -"Thanks..." I'm not paraphrasing, that's exactly what she said. I can always rely on my wife to give it to me straight (in the eye)

Lol, I'm betting most of us know something of that sweet sting...
At least she's up front, and not all like, "Wow, you're really getting adventurous experimenting with microtones and dissonance." :o |

I have heard, on occasion, my wife say, "that's really garbage!".....whoa!!
Well I did ask! We carry on......it's all good!! She's a huge support for my stuff and generally loves my tunes and helps to name them quite often. She has to love them to pick a name.....and there's only one shot at picking a tune's name. If I don't like it...I'm on my own!!!

I appreciate her brutality. It means more on the rare occasion I get a proper compliment

Less bad.... I'd take that.
My wife says she loves to hear me play....but it's always from the next room. She never comes running in so she can hear it better. Wonder if that means anything.... |

Makes me laugh!
Just this morning I mentioned to my wife that 2 of my sound cloud tracks had been liked, commented on and re-posted by a real good musician who she has met, and that had lead to some other comments and followers. Her response: "You weren't singing, were you? You can sing for me, but not for any one else!" Luckily these were instrumentals. She has a good point

My wife doesn't complain about my playing or singing, which I consider incredibly selfless of her. I think I'd hate it if someone I lived with was always subjecting me to something I didn't particularly enjoy. We have different enough taste in music that even if I did what I do really well, I don't think she'd like it. And I don't, which can't help! So the fact that she never offers any audible or visible DIS-approval is awfully nice of her. She may have some primal scream sessions when she leaves home to deal with her buried rage, but she never lets on...
My own assessment of my singing is that it's gone from truly awful (like sometimes I'd just stop a few lines into a song because I was almost making myself sick), to significantly less horrible. To the point that I enjoy singing and can almost always stand it when I sing (although I still have my moments). And I'll even include my vocals when I record songs just to give some context. And when I listen back with forgiving ears, it sometimes doesn't sound too bad. And other times, it does sound too bad... -Ray

I told my wife a place I played hired me back for 5 more dates.
"With all the other people out there they could have hired, it's pretty cool they brought me back. I must be a lot better than I thought." Loving and supportive wife says, "Everyone else must have been booked for those dates."

I love my wife so much I wouldn't dream of singing to her. I can whistle chords though.
