Default Pat Metheny - Letter From Home - Video

Hi, this is my solo guitar version of Pat Metheny's "Letter From Home", the title track song from the 1989 album. The original song is played by Metheny's group (mandolin, piano, strings, bass and drums) in the key of Ab. In the arrengement I've raised the key to A to take advantage of the guitar's natural sound and harmonics.

I hope you enjoy the video! Feedback appreciated!

Best,
A.

So nice!

I much prefer your arrangement to Jason Vieux's excellent one.

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
To be honest I haven't heard Jason's version. I'm a big fan of Metheny's music and have had the chance to play some of his songs in different situations.

All the best,
A.

Excellent! I’m a huge fan of Metheny also, just wish I had the “chops” to play some of his music. A couple of years ago I took on A Map of the the World and got about 1/4 of the way through it before it got too difficult for my ability at that time. I should give it another shot and possibly some other Metheny favorites in the future since thankfully I seem to be progressing in my fingerstyle skills. Letter from Home is I believe my second favorite album, Secret Story is my first favorite. Congratulations on mastering this arrangement.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. There's a lot of wonderful music from Metheny that suits the solo classical-fingerstyle guitar. It's difficult to choose an album from his discography, Secret Story is definitely on a top five for me. Other favourites for me are One Quiet Night and New Chautauqua.

All the best,
A.

Came across this while drinking coffee (out of my Emerald mug) on the patio as the sun came up this morning. Somehow your organic treatment of the tune fit in perfectly with the birds coming to life on this beautiful Father's Day. Thanks for the gift.

Hi Ruppster,
Thank you for the feedback and inspiring words. What a soundscape, birds and music, big subject there!
