Default ngd: x20 and x30 initial thoughts

Trying to figure out which pad to use on my capo. Anyone know what the fretboard radius is?

***

just got back from being out of town for 2 weeks while my brand new to me (March 17 select series. Green with dragon inlay & Celtic knot fret marker x-20) sat there in the box. I got the guitar from a really great woman on the forum.

I promise, I'll write an x30 vs x20 vs Blackbird super om vs El Capitan after I spend some time with it

The only thing I've done so far is change the strings from lights to a set of straight up strings heavy. It took me all of 10 strongs to know that for me, I needed mediums on this thing.

I wasn't sure what I was going to think about the green, but I really like it. It's much more subdued in person. For what it's worth, I think I like the carbon showing more than the Woody.

More later.

so, I'm pretty sure the answer is 16" based on short little snipet on google.

However, Emerald's website takes you on a circle when you try to get full specs on the x20. blargh.

It is 16" at least that's what they told me.

Supposed to be 16, same as the vast majority of steel strings.

AKA Martin Standard.

I've seen a number of people comment that they feel like the x30 doesn't feel larger than the x20.

I'm going to strongly say the opposite.

The x20 is comfortable for me to play in bed. The x30 was not.

I'm a 511 man.

.... my other initial thought is that I like this neck a lot better than I like the neck on my x30. This one is a 2017 select series March I think. Emerald Green with a dragon on it

Most people said it doesn’t feel MUCH larger, not that there was no difference at all
With all the bevels and contours it doesn’t feel much bigger than a X20 on my lap, and I’m about the same size as you. But then if you play in your bed it’s a different story

I can honestly say I’ve never played a guitar in bed.

Although, if I ever was unfortunate enough to be confined there for any length of time, I’d certainly try to find a way

I always said the X30 feels about the size of a dreadnought, even though it's bigger, but all the contours and bevels makes it feel smaller than it actually is. The X20 without question feels smaller than the X30. If I ever brought either one to the bedroom the wife would make sure they became a permanent part of me.

Someone on this forum did a cheese cake photo layout of a CF guitar in bed. It sounds like something Mr. K would do, but I think it was some other free thinker.

I guess I'm the only one! We sit and watch TV, and I play quietly...

I have a wall hanger right by the bed, and the x20 is the current resident....

Your guitar watches television? My goodness, must be one of those televisions that can watch you. You be careful, love can take the heart right out of your chest and stomp all over it. That's what I've heard.

The mediums are gone. I put on a set of nickel bronze and I'm liking them quite a bit, at least initially.
