Has anyone used DR High Beam strings?

Are they basically the 80/20 version of regular DR rare strings? Can you string them normally or are they the kind you have to string and tune up first before you cut the strings?

I think you mean DR Sunbeams. Yes, they are round core strings and should not be cut until they are at full tension.

Paulzoom, Hibeams are like Rares in being hex-core rather than round-core, so they are higher tension than Sunbeams, and don't have to be strung/tuned up before cutting, tho with any string I'd always put a 90-degree bend a couple of inches above the post before cutting, just to be sure.

I've only played the Rare, which are bright enough for me. I would also recommend GHS Bright Bronze --- I really liked those, when I needed a brighter set of strings.

Side note: it would be nice if DR gave a bright vs. warm chart, like some of the other string companies do. I've reached out to them with some questions, but they haven't returned my emails.
