A Guy once handed me his '75 Gibson it was hard to believe the sweet mellow sound even I could make with it.
I'm thinking I may go Gibson shopping. Which should I look for that is quality but not hi-dollar?

Not sure what’s “hi-dollar” to you...but J-45s are often thought of as the classic singer/songwriter guitar. On the budget side, J-15s are - IMHO - the best bang for the Gibson buck.
