Back in my gigging days my primary guitar was a '99 MIA Stratocaster Deluxe in sunburst. It was a great guitar, bulletproof, and sounded perfect through a Fender DeVille 4x10.

I also had a Telecaster that I built myself. I splurged on the pickups, Kent Armstrongs, and it is a real twang monster. Sounds way better than it should.

I sold the Strat a couple of years after retiring from the band because it pained me to see such a fine instrument not getting played. Kept the Tele, and pull it out once in a while.

When I was a primarily electric guitar player, I favored Gibson Les Pauls. And my favorite of those was a cherry sunburst standard with hand wound humbuckers.

That was 30 plus years ago. Now I only play acoustics, and without an amp, even if they come with electronics.

'62 Gretsch Tennessean and a '64 Kay Speed Demon, through a '63 Fender Bandmaster.

Default Acoustic Guitarists- what’s your favorite electric guitar?

Ex-Brooklyn boy here so I have a long-standing love for Gretsch - got an original '64 6117 Double Annie and a double-cut MIJ White Falcon, but my cats'-eye/3-PU 5622T-CB gets first call; also use a Gibson LP goldtop/P-90 and Godin CW II for rock and jazz/blues/rockabilly respectively...

I'm a bit partial to Telelcasters with low output, vintage style single coils; old Guild T-100s with the Dearmond gold foil pickups; and Gibson 335s - depending on the application and the amp.

I've got a Carvin I paid less than 500.00 and I'd sell my US Strat before I'd ever think of parting with the Carvin. Not that I play it anymore or as much but its set up perfect and could never be replaced for twice what I paid.

My main squeeze is generally the Super Strat type guitar. I like the flat radius, floating trem, low action, and humbuckers with a few extra options.

ES-347 is mine. Really the ES-335 or any of its variants is darn hard to beat. Though I’ve always wanted a really good Les Paul (I’ve had knock offs) because of well, Duane and Dickie, but I am now solidly on the acoustic train.

I don’t play electric guitar, but my best friend has one of James Burton’s 1969 pink paisley Teles and it’s awesome! It has a killer sound to it and is just so cool Looking.
