Well, I remember watching it, that Christmas, with a friend (in black and white). We loved it, and we couldn't understand all the flak that came its way.
Looking at it now, it seems patchy. On one hand it was ahead of its time, anticipating the Monty Python type of humour, and with some spectacular highlights: Walrus, Mother should know, Fool on the Hill. But I can't help feeling that a bit more editing would have improved the movie. The book/double EP album was terrific though.

I could pick any of a hundred, but I'd say Hard Days Night because it brings back memories of when it all started and the 1964 US tour.

Can't begin to pick one or even two. Closest I can come is the medley on side two of Abbey Road that starts with "You never give me your money" and ends with "The End" It is just brilliant.

"Michelle." My first recollection of being moved by music, although it was coming out of a crap dash speaker in our '66 Chevy. Major key, minor key, English and French - still a favorite.

My favorites are also my favorites to play:

"If I Needed Someone" from Rubber Soul. 2 minutes and 22 seconds of a beautifully written and executed pop song with all the things I like about the Beatles. The understated cool guitar riffs, the blending of their voices, the oooh's and aaah's on the chorus. I also love that they sound so very English on this recording.

"Get Back," because The Rooftop Concert is the coolest thing the Beatles ever did.

Eleanor Rigby. It's a song I have liked for 50 yrs. I am a big Beatle fanatic, but the rule is to post just one.

I'm gonna say Eleanor Rigby just because it sounds great on my banjo.

It Won't Be Long: still one of their all-time finest hard-rockers, this 1963 song briefly hints at the harmonic/contrapuntal sophistication that would come to permeate their post-Rubber Soul output, without sacrificing the raw immediacy and listener accessibility of their Hamburg/Cavern Club material in the process as their later work too often did; I've probably heard this song played incorrectly by more live bands than just about any other Lennon/McCartney composition - for those who even dare to attempt it - and even when they tried to "get back" to their roots immediately before the breakup, they were never able to recapture the same brilliance of execution exhibited here...
