Congratulations Frank, that looks wonderful - I absolutely love the inner sides and the rosette!

Haha... thanks. Its scary. I have known Rory for 10 years and I finally had the money to go for it. It will without doubt be an exceptionally beautiful instrument capable of stunning tone... the scary thing is I am so average a player, I might not be able to do it justice... But it will inspire me to play and practice more and I hope that way to improve... to me that is the real value of the very best instruments; they just want to be played all the time

Is looking fantastic. In my recent experience, it won't matter how good you are. I'm happy just to play through basic chords and listen to the quality of the sound that pops out. And it does make you want to play. I can count on one hand the days I've not played in the last month. Not long ago it was the other way round.

Thanks Martin!

Its getting close, but still several weeks away, suspect it won't be ready until new year, but good things are worth waiting for, but its tantalisingly close. So glad you are enjoying playing your Tirga Mhor!

OK, getting close now and rather exciting... neck carve to a soft vintage v... and a few more bits and pieces before into final sand and pre-finish prep.

I love the 'landscape' of the MRW fingerboard - this rang like a bell/chimed when tapped - Like a note on a marimba

Looking awesome - as expected! I found the next role during finishing much harder than I expected but well worth it in the end. Hope you have a good Christmas. At least there's something to look forward to in the new year!

Only about 2 weeks to wait... but why does it feel like two years? No more pics allowed and starting to feel like its cold turkey!

Those with greater experience of awaiting fine instruments after many years, please advise on how you manage the last few weeks.

I await your advice and instruction good sirs!

Thank you

I have no more experience than you, other than I've come out the other side! I found the time waiting for finishing really hard too. The fact that it's now so close, but all you have is your imagination about whether it will live up to expectations. And then trying to guess how it could sound...

So what can I offer? Only that my wait was worth it. The guitar was better than my imagination would allow. And the experience of seeing it first with your own eyes is worth so much, so just try to relax end trust it will be fine.

Hang on in there!

I remember telling Rory not to send me finished photos, as I wanted to wait to see it in person, it was well worth it. He said he wasn't going to anyway even if I asked, lol. I can guarantee you will be dumbfounded at the guitar...I thought I had an idea of how good mine would be and I was surprised when it was way, WAY better than I initially predicted. Mine is still developing with each string change, that in itself is a beautiful thing, as well...so enjoyable. Look forward to hearing how you like it.
