JJB pickup positioning
Hello guys, I received my new JJB prestige 330 and I wanted to know how you did the placement of the treble SBT. Did you placed it like the K&K mini towards the 1st string, or exactly between 1st and 2nd?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to enjoy it! |

I've been using the latest K&K placement for both K&K & JJB.

Yup, like a K&K works great.

I only installed one. I put it the way the instructions told me to. I love the way it sounds.

I put it pretty much right on the E, maybe a hair over towards the B on an old OM of mine a couple weeks ago.
With a quick bit if testing on a friend's Loudbox Mini, [for my ears] it still needed the bass rolled off and the highs boosted a bit, say 10 and 2; but, with that, the sound was very even across the strings. That same friend used it at a local open mic a couple days ago and it sounded great. He's on the 2nd pickup system on his old Taylor 714ce (ES1 failed, and now the Fishman replacement is humming all the time) so this has pretty well convinced him to go the K&K route on the next system. I am going to try it with something like the belt-clip preamp from K&K or that Gigpro from Baggs, so it's more open mic friendly.

Be VERY cautious of routing your transducer cables where they might contact a bridge pin. The cables are microphonic if contacted, so your transducer response can become unbalanced or odd sounding. |

I've read that but don't hear any issues here. I know it's "backwards" from most of the installs I see, but I didn't like the bend the cables needed to make to clear the 'X' right in front of the two E string placements. Then they'd almost surely have been bouncing off the braces. I suspect I used enough glue they're secured to the bridge-plate ; i.e, so not about to get tapped excessively - certainly not from a [wedged together] string ball-end and bridge-pin. When I get the guitar back someday I'll get my light and mirror out and see what's actually going on, and do some banging around. (Of course, if it starts acting up for my friend, I'll hear about that instantly!)
