Size Matters
I guess if you're going to spend nearly 3 grand on a guitar you might as well have a case you really like. The RainSong Access Case is off to Craigslist and the V-DR now travels in a much more compact TKL 8810. These days true 6 string dreadnought cases are not easy to find and the Access is quite large even for a case that fits a 12.

The TKL case that came with my Shorty (since sold) was huge and heavy. Most of the excess length was beyond the headstock - much longer than it needed to be. The guitar itself was light; the case was a beast. (seemed well-made, though) I bought an Access Stage 1 gig bag and added a neck rest; definitely better for our style of traveling.
IF a hard case is part of the mission, I have to say that the Hiscox Lite Flight case that Emerald uses has made me a believer - solid, well padded, and light weight.

I did not weigh them, but the TKL is lighter than the Access Stage 3.
For me it is more about bulk and no reasonably priced molded case is a good choice if that matters to you (Vicesnut's are very expensive and might be the exception).
