Default Minneapolis guitar stores???

Hi folks~

Can anyone recommend a good acoustic guitar store in Minneapolis? I can find several on the Web, but it's always best to hear from someone who knows. I need to pick some Elixir strings and a few other things, and wanted to check on the latest offerings from Taylor and Collings and such. Thanks!!

The Podium always get mentioned with genuine enthusiasm. Another good store with a wonderful owner is Hoffman Guitars, at 2219 E Franklin Ave in Minneapolis. Their phone number is (612) 338-1079

Charlie Hoffman has been making great acoustic guitars since at least the 1970's, and is one of the unsung heroes of the whole handcrafted guitar movement. He's immensely respected in the little parallel universe of fine handbuilt guitars.

Hope this helps.

Willie's may be worth a look too. If vintage is your thing, they may offer more than Podium. Also a Collings dealer.

Full disclosure, it's in St. Paul, so you have to cross the river.

I travel to Minneapolis frequently for work. Last time I was there I stopped at Willies. They had a nice selection of Art and Lutherie, Larrivee, Martin, and Gibson. They had a Bourgeois OM that I still dream about...

The Podium does not rep Taylor or Collings anymore. Santa Cruz, Bourgeois, Lowden and lots of fantastic used guitars. Don't start talking politics with Dave or you'll never get a word in edgewise!

Thanks for the advice! I just got in today and fly out early Monday and Podium is closed on Sunday, so I'll swing by Willies. Unless I get hopelessly lost. Thanks!

Twin Town Guitars in Minneapolis. I bought a Martin 00015M there and have been very happy with the selection and service.

Old thread but...What’s the latest? Going Saturday.

Rainsongs and a Yamaha red label would be fun to try. Thoughts?

There’s not much left. Willie’s has crazy vintage stuff so super fun to stop there. They have a handful of collings and Waterloo and new martins and some godin brands as well as a blackbird as of late if you wanna play a killer composite guitar.

Quinn violins has some decent things, but it’s pretty limited. Podium is long gone, so the really great option doesn’t exist anymore, but there are a few small shops if you search hard enough.

MN just stinks compared to most places. If you have time, Daves is worth a trip at least once in your life.

Default Stop in LaCrosse

Some of the best selection is in LaCrosse at Dave's. Check out their website as it seems up to date plus. Willies is limited but there is more than what is on the website. Twin Town is very Martin/Taylor heavy but also some Fenders. Quinn's is slowly getting into the fretted stuff. They do have a great wall of mandolins. I think Yamaha is probably going to be a GC brand. Lavonnes in Savage has a few Epiphone and Gibson.

When I was there a year and a half ago, Fret Central at Quinn Violins had a big selection of Eastmans, as well as some boutique brands, and a carbon fiber option. I don’t remember seeing any Yamaha or Rainsong guitars, but for it’s size, the variety of instruments made for an enjoyable time, and the staff is very nice. That’s where I got my Eastman T185MX.

Willies is worth a visit, and Twin Town has a big selection of acoustics, including Martin, Gibson, and Taylor.
