Default Jerusalem Ridge on a Bob Thompson OM

I posted a Christmas tune and it got deleted. I have no idea why, but I'm going to try it again with this tune instead. This is a Bill Monroe tune called Jerusalem Ridge. Played on my Bob Thompson OM, EIR back and sides and Red Spruce top.

Wow, Allen that's a great performance of a fave tune and one heck of a great sounding guitar!!!

I've always kept an eye out for one of his instruments - saw his "bio" video on his site several years back and immediately liked the guy - so endearing.

Again, very well done!

That sounded great, thank you for posting. I reviewed all your threads and there is no thread of you with a Christmas song which was deleted. Perhaps there was an error when posting, but I just wanted you to know that it was not deleted by any of the moderators that I can find.

Thanks, but it was posted and up for probably a week or so, and had several comments. I checked in one day to see if there were any other comments and it was gone. No trace.

Allen,

Very nice arrangement.

I've been paying a couple variations of this tune for 2yrs now, give or take & can definitely try to incorporate a few of your licks! The version I learned is from Bryan Sutton.

One thing that always stood out to me, is the "timing" in the 'C' part. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, with regard to the original Monroe version. IMO, it has a different sound/ feel than the way I play it.

Thanks in advance & thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure what you mean about the timing in the C part. It is just straight forward, the changes being Am-Dm-E-Am. They fall on the one and three in a four count. That is the straight version, there are variations of course.

Well I don't know then, there is no record of it, that is very strange. Let me look around some more.

Thanks for the reply, Allen.

The variations that I play are straight timing in a four count, as you say.

It just seems there's a little more 'swing' in your version, and in the original.

Love it Allen! Thanks for sharing! And that Thompson sounds great (though I’m sure you could make pretty much anything sing!).
