Default It Played In The Car This Morning...

Doobie Brothers "White Sun" from Toulouse Street, 1972

Horizon of blue, hills are rollin'
Walkin' with you through a field of red stones
I been confused from voices callin',callin' to me
Where the white sun has shown
And I slip away
Down by the water
And I slip away
Down by the sea
Take love and give love
It's got to be... free

The old man is weak, but strength comes from him
A smile full of youth, and a gleam in his eye
His garden is green and seems overflowin'
And his dreams await in his rockin' chair sky
And I slip away
Down by the water
And I slip away
Down by the sea
Take love and give love
It's got to be... free

Enjoy.

Bob

Love me some Doobie Brothers. Black Water floats my boat.

Thank God! I had a mental picture of you driving with your knees while strumming a guitar.

Great band.

Um, uh... Don't give me any ideas. I'm crazy enough, thank you.

I’ve been working from home for the past seven years (when not traveling). I get easily distracted and can’t listen to music when I’m working and, while I love the lack of commute (not to mention being able to go to my office as slovenly as I choose), I do miss being in the car and listening to music.

Toulouse Street was the first album I bought and the Doobie Brothers were my first rock concert, April 25th, 1973. Oh, by the way, official photographer Dan Fong took a pic of the band and the audience that ended up on the back cover of What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits... If you look really carefully, you can see that I am just out of the shot on the upper right...

I've always enjoyed this simple, little piece Busted Down Around O'Connelly Corners from one of my all-time favorite albums, The Captain And Me.
