Orchid Acoustic Pre-amp in the first list - input-Z should be 1 Megohm, and Phantom Power should be ‘Yes’ (48v Phantom Power is the only source of power for this unit).

I knew this would become an issue as well. There's a difference in what "phantom power" really means and can vary per preamp. For the most part, Cuki's list is referring to preamps that can supply power to a signal source. Some low voltage to power a small electret mic, some full 48v to power regular condenser mics.

Then theres some units that can be powered by 48v phantom power ( i.e. Baggs PADI) rather than a battery or other power supply.

I think the Orchid can operate off of 48v phantom power from a mixer, but does not supply power for a signal source.

Hope this helps clarify.

The ART Tube MP/C is a nice tube preamp/DI with a nice soft knee compressor.

That’s correct - in fact, as I said in my post, 48v phantom power is the only power source for the Orchid Acoustic Pre-amp. No batteries, no 9v, just 48v phantom power.

Apologies for muddying the water, but the OP’s tables didn’t make it clear what the ‘ph PoW’ ’ column actually represented or, if it did, I failed to understand. It happens! Now I look further across the table I can see that he has ‘phantom’ indicated in the ‘Power’ column, which makes sense of course.

I added a disambiguation line on the second post (must save room on the 1st one which is close to the character number limit).

That's a different preamp. That's the Studio, not the Project Series. The link in my message is for the Project Series.

Thanks phcorrigan,

I was mistaken by this sentence

My mistake. I don't know how I did that.

Some simple mod in order to not "blow up" your K&K mic:

One can change the diode voltage according to the mic capsule
