EQ Pedal with LR Baggs para acoustic DI
When playing live, I use either a Martin HD28 with LR Baggs Anthem or Taylor 814ce with the expression system.
My LR Baggs para acoustic DI sits last in my pedalboard chain and is XLR’d into the PA. However, I still feel that a dedicated EQ might help in smoothing out my sound, adding punch and clarity and giving me more control over my settings, particularly in larger venues. The LR Baggs Align EQ looks good. Does anyone have any experience of using a dedicated EQ alongside a DI unit like the para acoustic?

The MXR silver 10 band eq, aside from having bright LEDs, is awesome. You should be able to dial in/cut out any frequency you want. Also a bonus, it has a pre- and post- level control.

The LR Baggs Align EQ is phenomenal in my opinion. I run it into an LR Baggs Venue DI. It sounds incredible in my opinion.

Thanks AlfredFelix. I’ve got the Para Acoustic DI which is great but limited - in my opinion - as an EQ. I’m tempted to pair the Align with the Para Acoustic. The Venue is a fab piece of kit

I think you will be happy with the Align EQ and the Para DI. The Venue is great, and with it, I had a great signal that sounded very legitimate. However, the Align EQ gave me the fine tuning to the point that I don't feel any need to look further on sound enhancement. It is truly super close to the sound of my guitar unplugged, though not perfect

Check out the Empress Para EQ or the Wampler EQuator. Great EQ pedals!

I’ll suggest either the Grace Design Bix or Alix, depending on your need (and $$). I use a LRBaggs amp and have used a Venue DI with it for quite awhile but I always kept thinking I was missing something. I was, I opted for. Grace Design Felix (for the multiple instruments aspect) and now I lack for nothing when it comes to EQ and boost, soooooo clean and quiet and works great with all my instruments and pickups .....

I'd suggest a Pendulum, a Grace Felix or Alix, or an Empress Para EQ. Parametric EQ beats a graphic any day in my experience. Once you learn how to effectively use one, you can do a lot!
Interestingly enough, I have never been a fan of the LR Baggs Para DI. I know how to use it, but I just didn't like it as much as the other offerings. My buddy has the Pendulum, and I had it on loan for a bit. It's amazing. He has a special cable preamp box that was built for his setup by the Pendulum maker. |

Another recommendation for the Empress ParaEQ. Just about as good you can get in an EQ pedal.

Is the Anthem in your HD28 a factory or post factory installed item? I'm looking to electrificate mine.

Hey Johnny
The Anthem was installed by a luthier post production - the guitar is a 1996 model. I love the Anthem system and am trying to maximise its potential with good EQ as the Para Acoustic DI is limited in my opinion - fab as a DI unit but not so as an EQ The guitar itself is absolutely stunning with the most perfect action, neck angle, intonation and general playability. Quite addictive. Don’t think I’ll ever get rid of her

Thanks for all the help. After reading your posts and doing more research I’ve just bought a Wampler Equator at a great price. It’ll be with me next week so I’ll post an update after my next gig
