I've gone over this for the last year. I have two very different Martin guitars with the k&k mini installed in both. I went through several amps and preamps with terrible results, including the red-eye and a roland ac90, to name a few.

What works for me very well is I either plug straight into my Bose S1, or if using a PA, say for an open mic situation, I use a Headway EDB-2. These two devices have solved so many problems for me and took a lot of time, money and trial to figure it out.

Default K&K Pure

I use a K&K Pure and have since I had my first K&K Mini installed. I like it a lot and have 3 acoustics equipped with Mini's. Seem reasonable to pick up used around the $85 - $100 mark. Only downfall I don't like is having to take it apart to install a battery. Run on phantom power 99% of the time.

Does anyone know if the lowly BOSS DI-1 works with a K&K?

The spec sheet says something about, "Input Impedance Attenuator: 4.7M Ohms/37k Ohms corresponding to the attenuator." But I'm not sure what that means. Guess they won't match the Orchid stuff but they seem pretty common and pretty cheap and look like they could do a job. Any thoughts?

Cheers,

jacf

I suspect that means it has 4.7M input impedance, 37K out, which will work fine.
