Trying to find when an RQ Jones dobro was made - Serial #9280
RQ Jones made some of the finest dobros around. A buddy of mine (who is not a musician) inherited a square neck from his father-in-law. I played it and WOW - WHAT TONE!!! These were played by the likes of Jerry Douglas and Josh Graves (see here).
The serial # is 9280. Anyone know how I can find the year it was made?

R.Q. Jones made his Dobros basically from 1975 through early 1980's. He is still alive, living in Florida but if he builds any now it's for close friends. The March 2013 "BLUEGRASS UNLIMITED" magazine has an article on he and his instruments. MarColl
